This is going to sound strange...

...but I don't think vacations agree with me. While a good week off is quite enjoyable, I think having four weeks off is not the best thing for me. I'm trying to keep myself busy but I'm falling into the habit of sleeping in and just doing nothing productive. Trust me, I have plenty to do but it's like I'm getting into a rut.

What's worse? My depression has been acting up. It got really bad yesterday after the insurance adjuster was over looking over the damage for the roof leak. I guess the prospect of dishing out $1,000 for a deductible isn't helping my mood. I also don't like people in my home. I'm an incredibly social person but my home is my sanctuary, my safe spot. People invading it is not a good thing.

On the bright side, the insurance company says that not only will they cover fixing the wall but painting the entire room as well. As the room hasn't been painted in ages, they want to make sure that the walls "match." However, because of the open floor plan, this means that the dining room has to be repainted as well. I've been thinking about hiring a painter to do those two rooms. I guess now I'm forced to do it. I'm definitely not going with white. After spending 15 years living in apartments, I despise white walls.

I'm also a little worried about Kukai. I took him to the vet today since he didn't eat this morning. He is a tiny little guy to begin with and I'm fearful of him losing even more weight. The vet shocked me when she said he was down to 3.9 pounds from 5 pounds in September. We're going to up his thyroid medication, put him on antibiotics for his cold, and give him an appetite enhancer to get some weight on him. The vet also did another round of full bloodwork on the guy and gave him 200ml of fluids to help with his dehydration. Hopefully all these things will work. I'll know more tomorrow.
