Just Having a Bad Week
A few weeks ago, I managed to not only knock out one of my crowns but crack the porcelain in the process. How? No freaking clue. However, because of the way my dental insurance works, my dentist needed to get pre-approval before he could send the crown out to get fixed so he just slapped the tooth back in and I had to wait. Well, the pain got unbearable and the crown kept on falling out, so I went back to the dentist on Monday. Luckily, the pre-approval from the insurance came in and he went ahead and made a temporary crown for me to wear while my crown is being fixed. That is painful enough. It’s amazing how much a slight breeze of air can hurt an exposed root. Ouch! So anyways, I would have to wear this temporary one until next Wednesday when my permanent crown will be put in.
Yesterday, I was eating a snack of soft bread when all of a sudden I bite down on something hard. Now from what I’ve gone through, I knew better than to bite down hard. Lo and behold, my temporary crown fell out. Bah. My dentist’s office was closed for the day so I made Darren run out to the store to get some temporary crown adhesive. It seemed to work so I headed to class for the evening. Before class, I stopped at the cafeteria to grab some dinner since I was starving (as I didn’t finish my snack). It had been almost two hours since I put in the temporary adhesive which means it should have been set well and good. HA! The first bite I take of a rather unusually yummy chicken finger knocked my crown out yet again. I even made sure I was biting on the opposite side of my mouth too. Bah. The whole evening the crown kept on popping out and I ended up talking with a lisp for most of the night ‘cause I was using my tongue to keep the tooth from falling out.
When I got home, I put some more adhesive on the crown, slapped it back in, and didn’t eat a thing the entire night for fear that the damn thing would fall out again. It seemed to work ‘cause my crown was still in place when I woke up this morning which was a miracle since I tend to grind my teeth at night. However, I made the grave mistake of brushing my teeth. Pop! Out comes the crown again. I didn’t even bother putting more adhesive on it. I just called up my dentist and was thankful that he was in today so I made an appointment for later this morning. Maybe I’ll be able to eat something by this afternoon. Mind you, I’m starving as I haven’t eating anything other than a bite of that chicken finger since 3:00pm yesterday. Bah. And I’m incredibly cranky ‘cause the damn tooth hurts.
Yesterday just was a bad day all around for me. Besides having crown issues, my whole afternoon just got worse and worse. I got to school early so I can go to the multimedia lab to work on my 2D animation project that is due Tuesday. I’m only halfway done with it so I need to get into that lab. Well, when I get there, there isn’t a single computer available. I brought nothing else with me to work on either so I was stuck. Bah.
Then, I figure I would go to the cafeteria and do some rough sketches for the last GD2 project we have to make (a tourism brochure with folder and the mechanicals for them). I sit down, pull out my sketchbook, and open my soda and BOOM! Diet Pepsi everywhere. Yes, my soda exploded. What’s worse is I have no clue why. It was a random explosion. Good thing I didn’t bring my laptop with me or else that would’ve been ruined. It was bad enough though.
Finally, I’m in GD2 class and we’re critiquing our poster projects. Each person was supposed to pick another student’s work and critique it. Of course, I have the one guy in class who hasn’t got a shred of clue about graphic design pick my project. Then on top of that, he tears it apart. I can take constructive criticism with the best of them, but the rest of the class was totally disagreeing with his comments. I finally spoke to the professor to see how to improve my design. I just wanted to smack that kid.
OK. Now that I’ve ranted about yesterday, I feel a bit better. Now I’m just waiting for my dentist appointment and then will spend the rest of the day at school, hopefully finishing my animation project. It’s going to be a long day.
