Mean people suck
I was having a good day today. I really was. My classes went well, the day was sun-shiney bright. It was a day that brought a smile to my face.
That is, until I went to the supermarket.
There is an unwritten rule of etiquette at the self-checkout lanes. If there is no divider for you to use, you wait until the person is done bagging their stuff before you start scanning yours. This way, your stuff doesn't start piling up with their stuff. It's just common courtesy. Right?
Well, there I am bagging all my stuff when a man comes up into my lane and starts scanning all his stuff. If it was one or two things I might have let it pass but he had a whole basketful and I still had at least five bags of my stuff to pack. I looked up and said politely "you know, it's common courtesy to wait until the person in front of you is done bagging before you start scanning your stuff." Please note, I wasn't rude or sarcastic. Some people just don't realize that. Well this jerk turns around and goes "well if you didn't buy so much food you wouldn't have so much stuff to pack."
Excuse me?
What the *&%$ does this have to do with anything? I wasn't in the express checkout and this was a supermarket so it's not like having a full cart of food was a rare occurrance.
Then it dawned on me (it's not that my mental processes were slow. More like I tend to be optimistic in my view of people). I thought "oh he didn't just imply what I thought he implied?" What a jerk! He just called me fat.
I slowly inhaled, calmed myself down, and turned to him. He got full evil-eye mode from me followed by a "thanks for the hint asshole." (this is Jersey....that was a mild swear for what was going through my head).
Why do people have to be like that? It's not like I was doing anything wrong or controversial. Just trying to bag my groceries. I guess people like that just enjoy making other people feel miserable. It makes me hate living in this area sometimes.

Drive carefully, but get back to the cats and to Bear. Get back home. Everything will be all right.
Sometimes I can be "sensitive". And then I do not mess around.
