Cranky Kitty, Part 26,498

When I don't eat I get cranky.  When I don't sleep I get cranky.  Combine those two things and I can be a downright bitch.

As you know I definitely haven't been eating well and my new antidepressant is having fun with my sleep patterns.  I found out that I can actually function quite well on two hours of sleep.  I don't recommend it but it is possible.

Besides being a typical, crappy Monday, today was also the day I got to see my WLS surgeon for a follow up and boy was I in a mood.  I had a whole list of things to ask him and was ready to basically ream him a new one if he didn't give me some answers.  As you know, he hasn't been very helpful since the surgery.  But today I was prepared.  Oh yes.

So what happens?  The damn bastard actually had a discussion with me, and a productive one at that.  He still seemed baffled by what was wrong with me but this time around he started to mention what could be wrong.  Rare moments in history!  I think part of it stemmed from that I told him I was seeing a gastroenterologist next week.  Maybe he realized that I was serious about my concerns or, most likely, he didn't want to be challenged by another doctor.  Who knows?  The thing is that he's actually ordering tests.  Wow.  What a concept.  The word "stricture" was used quite often too, which is something I've been suspecting as well.  It's basically a buildup of scar tissue in the stomach at the suture line.  If I had one it would explain all of the discomfort and nausea that I've been going through.  It's also relatively easy to correct without surgery.  Not that I'm hoping I have a stricture but this would explain so much and ease my mind about a lot of things.

The tests I need to have done are called an "upper GI series."  All I know is that I have to swallow that gods-awful barium crap so the radiologist can take x-rays of my stomach.  Ugh.  Bad memories there.  The worst part is that I need to cancel all of my classes in the morning--thus causing my paycheck to be docked--as they only do the tests at 9am.  This is because the tests need to be done on a completely empty stomach.  I'm hoping Bear can take the morning off because if I feel nearly as miserable as I did the last time...well...it would be very sick cranky kitty.

On the bright side, I am down to 276, which means I've lost 58 pounds with 44 of those being since surgery.  I still don't think the surgery was worth what I'm going through but at least this time I'm starting to show some results.  Mind you if you looked at me you would never guess I lost that much weight.  The Fates are cruel.

I just had to laugh when you said your dr actually listened to you. I can so relate to that.

I do hope that what ever is wrong is something easily fixable and you have your answer soon!!

I have to say it is kind of weird typing when I can't see the screen because I have a cat sitting on my face.
