An Update

Sorry I haven't really updated anything. I've been busy trying to get ready for the start of the semester on the 22nd. My surgery is scheduled for the 11th so I'm trying to get at least the first month's worth of lesson's prepped. I figure I'm not going to be much good for the first few weeks after the surgery so I need to get it done now.

I am not looking forward to being on crutches for six weeks. Ugh. At least the pain should get better over time so it'll be worth it. I just hate crutches.

Also, I've been busy with a new kitty blog. After Ayla passed, I didn't have it in me to do a new one. However, I miss the whole cat blogging community and I figured the best cat for a new blog would be Monkee. So please stop over at Monkee's blog, Monkee Tales.

And speaking of kitties, it's really hard to work when I have a Phoebe curled up in my lap. Just too distracting, and calming, to be productive. :)

Oh... great... I know I hate being 8 months pregnant in the snow and ice. I would hate to be on crutches just as much!

I remember falling UP the stairs when I was pregnant with Emperor and I was 8 months along and had to be on crutches. That was ABSOLUTE HELL except for the fact that it was thankfully summer!!

Going to post pics of the crutches and how you lug stuff to and from the grocery store??

Glad to hear you are going to be able to have the surgery while on your break, and I hope the pain starts to lessen as the bone starts to heal back in place.

Channeling Ayla

Some of you may remember the world's most famous grump, Ayla. Ya, I miss the old girl too. Well, I don't know what is going on but Phoebe has been channeling her an awful lot lately. She has been very grumpy ever since Kukai passed away. But it's more than that: First I noticed that she started hanging out in "jail" (the footrest under my desk), which was Ayla's favorite spot. Then she seriously started turning into a skutch (e.g., attempting to steal burger from me). Today, I saw her back into a defensive position near Loki and I swear I heard the thwap upside his head as she was thinking it. Is this Phoebe channeling Ayla or am I just getting a new grump in the house? Things will be interesting either way. I just can't wait to see Loki's reaction when she does act out on the thwap instead of just thinking about it. P.S. Why can't students ever thank me for As? Long Week

I just got some sad news today. It seems another kitty from the catblogosphere has passed on. Bonnie was special to me in the sense that she was a "friend" of Ayla's. It's kind of hard to explain to the uneducated masses that some people love to write not only about their pets but from their pet's point of view. That's what Jen does over at the Bonnie & Victor site. That's what I did over on the Ayla the Grump site. Through them, we make virtual friends and we learn to love their pets almost as much as they do. It broke my heart to hear that Bonnie passed away and so suddenly. Bear and I were talking about Ayla a few days ago and how I've been having so many problems starting up another kitty blog. He thinks that the Ayla site gave me a truly creative way to vent (unlike this site which is just venting).
